Full Time Seasonal Construction Work at Vermont’s State Parks

The State of Vermont, Dept. of Forests, Parks & Recreation is seeking (8) full time crew leaders to provide leadership, training, and supervision to work with crew members between the ages of 18 and 24. Each of four Vermont State Park Regions will employ (2) crew leaders to lead a (4-6) person crew from June 22nd through late September of 2009. Responsibilities require that crew leaders have excellent interpersonal and motivational skills and a diverse construction background with knowledge of means and methods used for repairs, renovations, and new construction. Projects will include work to upgrade existing state park buildings and structures, and construction of new state park cabins. Duties will include training the crew in the proper use and handling of tools and equipment as well as job site safety. Projects may include demolition of existing structures, roofing, siding, masonry, painting, and varied repairs to existing buildings and historic structures. Experience with log construction and timber framing a plus. Applicants must have a valid Vermont State Drivers license. Pay rate will be $15.75/hr.
