Sustainability Coodinator- Green Mtn College

Position Title: Sustainability Coordinator
Department: Academic Affairs
Salary Range: Full-time, exempt position
Reports To: Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor, publicize, and enhance institutional progress toward sustainability in curriculum, operations, and facilities
Lead Green Mountain College’s efforts to fulfill the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, engaging multiple stakeholders to develop a climate action plan and meet institutional targets for carbon neutrality
Facilitate connections between community sustainability efforts and academic offerings
Work with student leaders and administrators to manage and implement the Student Campus Greening Fund and related student-led sustainability initiatives
Manage campus Recycling program, including supervision of student work-study recycling crew
Maintain an active professional life, building relationships with other sustainability officers and promoting Green Mountain’s sustainability programs at regional and national conferences
Some course instruction opportunities may be available for the right candidate

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in an environmental or related field
Job experience in an environmental or sustainability field
Project and program management experience, preferably in higher education setting
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage and maintain budgets
Strong organization, innovation and self-motivation skills

Decumanus Green Design/Build is a young and growing, socially conscious design/build firm located in western Massachusetts. Our projects range from small interior renovations and custom cabinetry to major additions and whole-house renovations. As a company, we strive to promote and implement green building practices and to stay on top of the rapidly developing evolution of the green trend. We are committed to the idea of maintaining a communal corporate structure wherein employees take a share in the decision making as well as the risks and rewards of the small business world. Environmental Accounting

AgRefresh, the premier agriculture- focused environmental and carbon accountancy in the nation seeks creative quantitative analysts with a passion for solving climate change challenges. We need data-literate individuals with demonstrated competency in carbon accounting or related disciplines. Join an entrepreneurial team focused on carbon market opportunities for producers in biofuels, dairy, and other segments of the agricultural and forestry sectors. We require strong experience including:
  • Dynamic quantitative analysis with proven ability to develop and operate complex quantitative models including sensitivity and uncertaintyanalysis.
  • Proven ability to communicate scientific and numeric data and calculation methodologies through technical writing.
  • Superior data analysis and presentation skills including excel, statistical packages, SQL database design, and graphic design.
Principal duties will include:
  • Team participation in building AgRefresh's carbon accounting software tools.
  • Client data collection and management for on-going carbon accounting.
  • Becoming sector-specific, domain expert on carbon standards and protocols.
We prefer prior experience and formal training in:
Agricultural engineering, environmental sciences, and related fields; and/or,
Environmental accounting including life cycle analysis, carbon markets, and greenhouse gas protocols.

Advanced degree expected. AgRefresh is located in Burlington, Vermont, a progressive university town located on Lake Champlain between the Green Mountains and the Adirondacks. Energy and Sustainability Manager

Position: Energy and Sustainability Manager

The Energy and Sustainability Manager plays a key role in developing strategies to support sustainable development and environmental stewardship at all BCIT campuses.
Working in close partnership with the school and other BCIT departments, the Energy and Sustainability Manager prepares reports and policy proposals concerning the realization of the Environmental Stewardship and Sustainable Practices memorandum of agreement. In addition, the Manager will have the opportunity to implement a work program addressing energy, materials consumption, water, waste and green space, as outlined in the goals and objectives of the Greening Campuses Strategic Plan, and to engage staff and students in these initiatives.
The Manager will also have the opportunity to oversee development of curriculum that advances the state of practice in sustainability and prepares the next generation of practitioners to contribute to a sustainable future.
This position is subject to renewal of BC Hydro energy management support funding and is determined from year to year.

QUALIFICATIONS

 Master’s Degree in Business or Environmental Management (or its equivalent) or registration as a Professional Engineer or Registered Engineering Technologist is preferred

 Journeyman Electrician or Certified Technician (HVAC, instrumentation, or other relevant discipline) may be considered

 Five to ten years’ work experience in organizational change management or the operation, maintenance and management of electrical and lighting systems or mechanical systems including HVAC systems and cooling plants, or experience working as an engineering technologist on mechanical and/or electrical building systems

 Completion of energy efficiency training such as AEE Certified Energy Manager, CIET Energy Management Training or LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) professional accreditation is also an asset

 Familiarity and knowledge of energy efficient technologies and a demonstrated interest in energy efficiency coupled with environmental stewardship are also beneficial

 Knowledgeable about electric and natural gas rate structures, utility and government energy efficiency funding programs; capable of financial analysis including full cost accounting and life-cycle assessment

 Capable of managing and identifying energy and materials savings opportunities in buildings systems and/or utilities

 Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal, leadership and presentation skills, including the use of common computer software such as Microsoft Word and Excel

 Demonstrated supervisory experience, project management experience for small capital projects, and policy development experience including experience in writing detailed reports

 Experience in the development of educational curricula is an asset, and capability to track progress on multiple initiatives is essential

 Knowledge related to water conservation, landscaping, soil science, and ecosystem restoration are also considered an advantage

 Familiarity with concepts related to Ecological Footprint Assessment, The Natural Step, and other related sustainability management approaches are also an advantage.
